Description
This moss on oak is more scientifically termed Tillandsia usneoides on Quercus virginiana - Spanish Moss on a Southern Live Oak tree. The coastal plain and islands of Georgia, including Jekyll Island, teems with Southern live oaks dripping with fuzzy tendrils of Spanish moss. Georgia's state tree is a symbol of strength and a bulwark against time itself. The moss seemingly add to the feeling of timelessness - representative of the Old South.
