Description
Plyler Park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, has a wonderful new sculpture by Kristen Visbal, "The Goddess of the Sea." It was commissioned (paid for) by Justin Plyler, with major funding by the City of Myrtle Beach and the Downtown Redevelopment Corporation. Some locals say, "our tax dollars at work - for a good cause."
This beautiful art piece is found in the center of Plyler Park. This is a popular area for entertainment and is located on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean. This is an integral part of downtown urban development along the beach in the center of the city. Plyler Park is located adjacent to the SkyWheel, a popular tourist attraction. This image has been post processed (edited) to produce a slightly transformed rendition - to show more detail in the sculpture than what an "average" photo may capture.
It is good that the "city" does things like this to enhance the downtown area. Indeed, the commemorative plaque states, "Dedicated to the people of Myrtle Beach for the enrichment of our environment, June 1, 2018."
