Description
Here is a simulated charcoal sketch of a golden pathway, part of the Loop Trail near the fishing pier at the very north end of Jekyll Island. The "golden hour" near the time of sunset created the golden hues in the Southern Oak trees, the Spanish Moss and the assorted foliage. There hues, of course, are quite subdued in a charcoal rendition. This tranquil scene is located at the head of Clam Creek Road at the Clam Creek Picnic Area - located just north of one of Jekyll Islands many campgrounds.
Jekyll Island is actually Jekyll Island State Park administered by the State of Georgia and, by law, can only be commercially developed on a small portion of the land. The island, therefore, remains mostly pristine and undisturbed across the many dunes, beach access areas and of course, the popular Driftwood Beach.
Note that much of the water surrounding Jekyll Island the water appears brown(ish) at times because of churned-up sediment and tannin washed offshore from the myriad swamps and marshes of coastal Georgia.
