Beautiful! The ripples in the sand combined with the lines of the fence mesmerize me.

Thank you, Stacie.

Artist's Description

A partially buried fence post at Whiskey Beach stands up to catch some rays - as do many of the beach-goers just north of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The posts and "snow fence" helps keep the sand from drifting too much and cutting off the dune crossings.

Whiskey Beach (Whisky Beach) is a unique name that is derived from two possible sources, or "stories." One is that this was a place for rum-runners to land during the days of Prohibition; the other is that it was a place to go party for the soldiers at Fort Miles, now Cape Henlopen State Park, during World War II.

This is a "different" sort of photograph for sure, unique in the solitary nature of the subject. Where in your home would this fit in with your decor?

"For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move." Robert Louis Stevenson... My photography reflects such wanderlust. I record images of places to which I wander and distractions along the way. I love to share my joy of living at the beach and our travels afar, bringing you photographic art that reflects what I see. I have had my work published for more than half a century, starting as a junior reporter for a local newspaper in 1964. I have been involved with industrial photography, wedding photography and real estate photography but my love has always been landscape and seascape photography. Today I concentrate strictly on photography as art. Purchase one of my pieces to...
