Description
And what to my wondering eyes should appear? Well, how about one of the wild horses of Assateague Island appearing to play Peek-A-Boo from behind a sand dune at the Assateague Island National Seashore in Maryland? Yes, as we were traversing one of the dune crossings one evening to access the beautiful Atlantic beach we spied this beautiful Assateague Pony spying on us. She was partially hidden behind the dune grasses and the dune hill and gave us thrill seeing her there, not in our path, but just to one side.
Note, please, that this was photographed with a telephoto lens zoomed out to nearly 300mm - so we were not nearly as close at this appears. The guidelines at AINS warn people to keep at least 40 feet away from the indigenous life forms - the Wild Horses of Assateague Island.
