Under his command the attack by the British upon Baltimore by land and by sea, September 12-14, 1814, was repulsed. He was a member of Congress, President of the U.S. Senate, Secretary of the Navy and Mayor of Baltimore.

This monument on Federal Hill was erected by the Star-Spangled Banner Commission, James H. Preston, Mayor, President of the Commission, 1917.

Bill Swartwout

"For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move." Robert Louis Stevenson... My photography reflects such wanderlust. I record images of places to which I wander and distractions along the way. I love to share my joy of living at the beach and our travels afar, bringing you photographic art that reflects what I see. I have been involved with industrial photography, wedding photography and real estate photography but my love has always been landscape and seascape photography. Today I concentrate strictly on photography as art. Purchase one of my pieces to...
