Description
These two Fire Control Towers are designated #5 (left) and #6 (right) and are located on the beach between Gordon's Pond and the Atlantic Ocean just north of Rehoboth Beach, DE. In 1942, eleven towers were built in coastal Delaware to watch for the approach of enemies and to serve as the "eyes" of Fort Miles. The popular Cape Henlopen State Park of today once was the center of operations for the 261st Coast Artillery at Fort Miles..
