Fall foliage and a bright blue autumn sky make Fire Control Tower #8 (at Cape Henlopen, Fort Miles, Lewes, DE) look like it belongs on a calendar page. Seven decades ago this was manned with soldiers (24/7) keeping watch over the beach and into the Atlantic Ocean. They served with the Coastal Defense Corp to protect the Delaware Bay from invasion by enemy ships. Even though it is a World War II artifact, wouldn't it look good hanging on one of your walls?
