Artist's Description
What a unique holiday decoration! This Christmas Tree, or Holiday Tree as some may call it, can be seen along the side of Route 611 on the way to Assateague Island and the Assateague Island National Seashore - to see the wild horses. This "Waterman's Christmas Tree" stands tall and represents one of the main life endeavors among the people of Maryland's Eastern Shore. The wonderfully popular Maryland Blue Crab is usually transported to market in bushel baskets - just like these. For those us us who enjoy steamed crabs we do like to see these filled with the summertime catch - on the way to our tables.
About Bill Swartwout
"For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move." Robert Louis Stevenson... My photography reflects such wanderlust. I have had my work published for more than half a century, starting as a junior reporter for a local newspaper in 1964. I have been involved with industrial photography, wedding photography and real estate photography but my love has always been landscape and seascape photography. Today I concentrate strictly on photography as art. Purchase one of my pieces to...
