Description
Here are two Pintos of Assateague Island, Maryland. The pintos are the most numerous of the many wild ponies in the herd of the Assateague Island.National Seashore.
On the left is April Star, a 9-year-old Bay Pinto Mare and on the right is Patricia Irene, a 9-year-old Bay Pinto Mare. Pintos are highly variable, with random patches of white along with any other color on torso and limbs. Usually the darker color is the background although some pintos may be nearly white with only a few dark patches.
