Description
A pair of Eastern Tiger Swallowtail Butterflies (Papilio glaucus) enjoy a lunch of sweet nectar on a sunny day at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. These butterflies are native to Eastern United States and are among the most easily recognized.
This appears to be a pair of Swallowtails with the male in the foreground and the female (his mate?) to the right in the background. The female is usually identified by the blue spots on the hind-wings.
If you are a fan of butterflies you can purchase a print of this photograph to hang in your home to enjoy all year. Where do you think you would put it?
