Artist's Description
The "Storm Flag" is the second-largest of the flags that fly over the Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine in Baltimore, Maryland. The dark and stormy sky makes the red, white and blue of the flag stand out as it spanks in a brisk breeze.
Fort McHenry is the birthplace of our National Anthem, the Star Spangled Banner, that was written by Francis Scott Key, a Baltimore lawyer, during the last major battle of the War of 1912. That battle, the successful defense of Baltimore from British invasion ended on September 14, 1814.
About Bill Swartwout
"For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move." Robert Louis Stevenson... My photography reflects such wanderlust. I have had my work published for more than half a century, starting as a junior reporter for a local newspaper in 1964. I have been involved with industrial photography, wedding photography and real estate photography but my love has always been landscape and seascape photography. Today I concentrate strictly on photography as art. Purchase one of my pieces to...
