As dusk turns to dark in this panorama presentation, the Indian River Inlet Bridge north of Bethany Beach, Delaware, begins to glow red as part of the nationwide remembrance to honor firefighters who have fallen in the line of duty. "Light It Up Red."
This week many businesses, private homes and public structures are participating in the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation (NFFF) event - Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters. Every October, the NFFF sponsors the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, the official national tribute to those firefighters who died in the line of duty during the previous year.
The Charles W. Cullen Bridge over the Indian River Inlet is located at the Delaware Seashore State Park on Route 1 between Bethany Beach and Dewey Beach, DE.
