Description
POWERFUL (IMO: 8705400) is a Tug that was built in 1988 by Cochrane Shipbuilders, Selby, U.K., and is sailing under the flag of Bermuda. When this photograph was taken it was berthed along King's Wharf at the Royal Navy Dockyard and was in service to assist cruise ships and tankers in berthing, unberthing and towing - for vessels visiting the Port of Bermuda. This tug is operated by the Bermuda Government Department of Marine & Ports Services, which oversees marine operations in this island nation.
The Powerful is a large harbour tug with limited offshore capability. I is capable of carrying and supplying fuel, water and supplies to vessels in protected waters as well as offshore. This tugboat also has fire fighting capability, along with oil recovery tanks and oil dispersing booms.
It’s carrying capacity is 258 t DWT and her current draught is reported to be 3.9 meters. Her length overall (LOA) is 31.02 meters and her width is 9.73 meters.
