Description
On a warm and sunny summer day the Maryland Blue Crabs can usually be found in shallow waters of the bays in Maryland and Virginia. Usually referred to as Maryland Blue Crabs rather than Virginia Blue Crabs, they are a sought-after seafood critter enjoyed by many.
This Chesapeake Blue Crab happens to be lurking - or maybe playing Hide 'n' Seek, in a marshy area of Assateague Island, This photography, by Bill Swartwout Photography, was captured along the "Life of the Marsh" trail in the Assateague Island National Seashore (AINS) on what was, indeed, a warm summer day. This guy was not the only one there but did seem to be the only one posing for the camera.
This also goes to show that there is more to enjoying Assateague Island than just watching the wild horses that live there. The Assateague Pony seems to be the main attraction of this national park but is far from being the only creature living there.
