Description
This old barge with pile driving equipment, a pile driver, is tethered in a lagoon off the Chester River in Grasonville, Maryland. The surrounding communities on Kent Island, east of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge on Maryland's Eastern Shore have a lot of waterfront properties, both business and residential. Consequently, there is need for marine construction equipment. PIle drivers are used to hammer, or drive, long poles, or pilings, into the muck, silt or sand bottoms of the myriad creeks, rivers and bays in the area.
This was the perfect day to catch an almost perfect reflection of the tall derrick in the water of the lagoon. The slightly cloudy sky helped with cloud reflections, as captured by Bill Swartwout Photography. If you are mechanically inclined and like all things water - where would you plan to hang this in your home? Or would it be best displayed in your office?
