Description
Often called Mighty Mac or Big Mac, the Mackinac Bridge connects the main part of Michigan to the Upper Peninsula and crosses the Straits of Mackinac. The straights connect two of the Great Lakes - Lake Huron and Lake Michigan. The Mackinac Bridge is one of the longest suspension bridges in the world today. The Straits of Mackinac allow Great Lakes shipping, cargo and ore carriers, to travel among all of the states connected to the Great Lakes.
In this expressionism abstract presentation by Bill Swartwout Photography, looking south, Lake Michigan lies to the right and Lake Huron to the left. The town of Mackinaw, Michigan is at the southern shore and attracts thousands of visitors a year.
