Old Glory is seen waving over the ramparts of Fort McHenry in a breeze against a stormy sky. This photograph, by Bill Swartwout Photography, was taken on June 6th - with the annivarsary of D-Day prompting Bill to visit the Fort Mchenry National Monument and Historic Shrine.
It was here, during the Battle of Baltimore, near the end of the War of 1812 that Francis Scott Key penned the poem that eventually became our National Anthem, the Star Spangle Banner.
