Description
While it may be difficult to believe because of its beauty, the sole purpose of a flower is to enable the plant to reproduce. That is, to make seeds that can grow new plants. This close up photograph of an Hibiscus plant might be as useful in a science class as it is decorating a wall in your home. A bright spot in your kitchen, perhaps?
For one studying the parts of a flower these can be seen: petal, pistil, stigma, style, anther, filament and stamen, Even some yellow pollen grains can be seen on the lower petals of the blossom. What is missing in this image is the ovary, where the new seed develops, the stem and the calyx, which fastens the blossom to the stem.
