A lithograph of Fort McHenry in Baltimore, Maryland as it existed at the beginning of the Civil War in 1861 depicts troops in training and ready for battle. At the time, Colonel William Walton Morris. Jr., 2nd Artillery, was in command of the Fort and General John Adams Dix, a Union Major General, was the Commander in Chief of this District.
