Description
Presented here in black and white is a monochrome image of the Fenwick Island Lighthouse just north of the state line between Maryland and Delaware. Visitors to both Fenwick Island and Ocean City both claim the Light as their own. (However, it is actually just north of the state line and is, therefore, in Delaware.)
For many decades the Fenwick Island Lighthouse served as an aid to navigation for mariners sailing the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of the Delmarva Peninsula. Today, the historic structure is a popular tourist destination, especially for photography enthusiasts. The "Fenwick Light" is an historic landmark located in Fenwick Island, Delaware right at the border with Ocean City, Maryland. Built in 1859, it is the oldest standing structure in Fenwick Island. The lighthouse is currently owned by the state of Delaware and is open to the public for tours.

But this one is my absolute MOST favorite of the black and white photography. The perspective and composition is superb. For me, this is "award winning" photography.
Bill Swartwout replied:
Wow, thank you so much, Janet. I thought it might be a bit too somber. I contemplated brightening this a bit but I wanted the dark(er) clouds to set a dark(er) mood.
