Description
Eastern Gray Squirrels spend the coldest part of winter holed up in leafy nests high up in the tree branches. They do this both for protection from the cold and from predators. This Eastern Gray is calmly fattening up for winter - eating away at whatever he is holding in his little rodent paws. He knows winter is coming and has (obviously) been fattening up for the winter ahead.
When not actually eating, these furry critters will be digging in the earth to bury and hide nuts and seeds. These hidden foods can later be retrieved for a mid-winter meal whenever the winter weather permits.
