The 3,500 horsepower locomotive known as CSX 8585 sits at idle and waits to begin hauling a train westward from the CSX Riverside Rail Yard in South Baltimore, Maryland. This engine even sounds powerful even before it begins pulling its load; a chore that it has been doing for 30 years since being built by the Electro Motive Division (EMD) of General Electric.
