Water is necessary to all life forms, including this small herd of cattle on a mid-west prairie ranch. Farmers may not be able to get electricity to all parts of a ranch to pump water from a well - but the use of an old-fashioned windmill does the trick. There is always a wind blowing on the prairie - that's one of the reasons the land is arid and dry.
This is a mild edit of a photographic scene donated by Gaby Ethington for use in an "editing contest" at Fine Art America. The result, that you see here, is worthy of being included in my "On The Farm" collection of fine art photographs.
