Artist's Description
A familiar sight to people on a Caribbean cruise vacation when Nassau is one of the ports of call. The Nassau Harbour Lighthouse on Paradise Island is the first picturesque image that travelers see upon entering the harbor at Nassau in the Bahamas.
About Bill Swartwout
"For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move." Robert Louis Stevenson... My photography reflects such wanderlust. I record images of places to which I wander and distractions along the way. I love to share my joy of living at the beach and our travels afar, bringing you photographic art that reflects what I see. I have had my work published for more than half a century, starting as a junior reporter for a local newspaper in 1964. I have been involved with industrial photography, wedding photography and real estate photography but my love has always been landscape and seascape photography. Today I concentrate strictly on photography as art. Purchase one of my pieces to...

Gorgeous! Captured the color of the sea where it is shallow and yet the depths of the sea is visible too. The white lighthouse is a beacon for sure!
Bill Swartwout replied:
Thank you, Rose. Those colors are amazing to see in person. We have bee to Nassau four times so far and are supposed to be back there on another cruise in December (but not very hopeful about that.
Lisa Kaiser
Gorgeous color, amazing image.
Bill Swartwout replied:
Thank you, Lisa. I have photographed that on four separate occasions - and that is still my best shot of the Nassau lighthouse.

Thank you Melinda. I've been there twice while on two cruises and I shot a LOT of photographs. That is the only one I really like. It more or less compares/contrasts the old and the new. The water provided the color - it was amazing.

I love this image Bill. I like the juxtaposition of the little lighthouse in the foreground with the sky scrapers in the distance. I like the composition an diagonal flow through this image. And I love the range and variety of blues you've captured. Truly lovely.

nice one Bill .. L
Bill Swartwout replied:
Thank you, David. And thank you for your service. I like the fact you are donating part of your sales. I will do the same from my Fort Miles photos (Fire Control Towers) - for the restoration of the fort. People need to remember military history as a part of the sacrifices many have made. Love some of your "Arch" captures. I've been to the top twice (in the infancy days of "digital") and thoroughly enjoyed the Westward Expansion Museum.
