This aging toy tractor was manufactured by Scale Models of Dyersville, Iowa and sold by Outback Toys, "Your Best Source For Farm Toys," of Lititz, Pennsylvania. The original International Harverster Farmall Hydro-drive series of tractors were built in the late 1960s and early 1970s. This ride-on pedal toy of Farmall 826 likely dates back to that era - in design but not in manufacture. It looks like it has been "rode hard and put away wet," as the saying goes.

Many a young man wanted to drive a tractor and this gave the youngsters about the ages of 6 to 10 an opportunity to do so. While this tractor might not have strayed far from the back yard, this cast aluminum pedal tractor was found "awaiting retirement" in the Farmyard Exhibit of the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore.
